    Question Slowest Aristo Evarr

So after blitzing 4000 kms in 3 days across the country without missing a beat *cough* loose ignitor *cough* I unloaded a metric tonne of gear from the Aristo and was bemused when it in fact went even slower.

After a bit of fiddling, without many tools, or the use of a boost gauge, I guessed it was the wastegate stuck open, as I was making boost in low RPM on the front turbo

Turns out it's probably a broken VSV for the EGCV and I've got one on the way (thanks Wilbo)

There's also a small cam cover leak, but that's a near new seal, I didn't want to do it up to tight when I installed it. I've nipped it up now should be fixed.

However, I've always had a pretty loud exhaust note around the engine bay, and so has the car. I'm hoping this is the only exhaust leak the car has, but the studs were pretty tight, and I cant see any manifold cracks around the place. Thoughts? The nuts and manifold were definitely sooty, it's not oxidised oil, and if it was, it'd be the same on the rear of the manifold I'd guess, which it isn't

Also, there's a bolt missing from the no.1 turbo. Not sure if it's meant to be there or not. There's no tooling marks around this part of the engine, so either it fell out before I got the car (78k kms) or it was never there? Thoughts?

Hooray, the care package arrived, all I need now is some gasket sealant and an exhaust stud, and a Turbotech MBC. Hopefully I'll get that gear thisafternoon, and even better if my mech boost gauge and AVC-R turn up in the post from QLD tomorrow, then I'll have some real fun Wednesday.

Bolt on top would have been for attaching heat-shield or a stand-off for the same?

Is the underside of the heat-shield coated in black soot? The black soot stain might be a combination of restricted hot-air flow (courtesy of the heat shields) plus the oil from the cam cover.

btw: you are gay for moving to WA (even if clint and feral live there) ... plus you still haven't posted skid pics of the JZS47?

Yes the bolt on the top is definitely heat shield, and under the shield was pretty black up the front turbo but not the back. I considered leaving the heat-shields off, but it's pretty close to the brake master

Hmmm, no skid pics? Ok as soon as I boost it (hopefully before Wednesday) I'll get pics

Ok after all that (and nearly overheating it with the heater-tap free in the breeze) it feels even slower!

Fucking boost gauge hasn't arrived yet. WA post sux!

In that last picture you can see the exhaust gas leak between the manifold and turbo exhaust housing. If that bolt closest to the camera has always been missing then I would put money on it being your problem. If exhaust gases are escaping before hitting the turbo it will definitely be causing a loss of power.

I just realised you have fixed this.

    I have difficulty reading.....
