Lightweight Batterys

If I put a lightweight battery in (tiny less then half size deelie), how long does it take to go flat if I don't drive my car? I've had a search around but haven't found anything comprehensive.

Thinking of putting one in so I have room for the PowerFC, but I only drive my car once a week and don't want to have to keep it on a charger.

Also I hear that when its hot they don't last as long, if it lasts at least a year I'd be reasonably happy, anyone else had any experience with this?

I run a Pulse PBH 400 battery in the Soarer track car. It weighs 7kg and is about a third of the size of the stock battery. It holds charge weekend to weekend no probs, but I also have a battery isolator switch for when I want to leave it for long periods of inactivity.

The car sat in storage for 40 odd days over christmas and the transport company left the battery switch connected. It was dead as a doornail when I got it but 24 hours on a 2amp charge and it is back to full life.

I was concerned it would not turn over the 1J, but it has no problems at all, even in the stupidly cold wakey mornings.

Now onto figuring out which one to get and how to fasten it in place. Any advice on that? Any handy kits around?

I run a Odyseyy PC680 in my celica. It can sit for about a week or two while connected. Fair bit longer when disconnected.
Bracket is easy as. Cut brackets from original clamp and made a new bit to go across the top.

I use an Absorbed Power dry battery in the racing car and it's absolutely fab.
They cost far less than the Oddessy's and seem to be more consistent.

ive got an oddessy too (cant remember the model, but its flat enough to fit under the seat.

connected it last about 4 days (only just managing to start it then) or isolated it lasts more then a month.

My pulse is the equivalent of the PC680 and cost me $160 from a solar shop in Newcastle.

I bent up a custom tray and clamp out of 1.6mm aluminium sheet. Tray bolts to floor, and clamp bolts to the tray.

Yep, it's a special charger that pulses. I believe they sense the volts before and after they pulse some power into the battery so they can work out how much charge the battery has. Something like that ....

I've had an Odyssey PC680 for about 5+years now. Originally it'd last about 3 weeks, now I'm down to 1.5-2 weeks. But, I may be one of the lucky few who's had one of these last this long.

The 'special' charger isn't so special anymore, there are newer charger's on the market with Leadacid/Gel Cell/AGM settings. This is the one I've got: http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SC-...368365&sr=1-13

I'm running a Braile battery, about 5kg. It has fully discharged numerous times before installing an isolation switch; peviously I had to manually disconnect the battery and some times I would forget. Recharges fine. Without being driven it would only do about 8 days before it couldn't get a 2zz to start.

My pulse documentation did not say anything about special chargers? I just use my regular charger. Mind you I have only needed it twice in about a year. I might have to google it and find out...
