It is an MA45 supra diff, judging by the calipers

Should have the same bearings & rotors as JDM AE86 disc rear ends. They once had lil pissy motors in supras

Interesting, potentially an easy way to get discs on the rear of an ADM Hachi/KExx Corolla without needing to resort to a heavier diff? I was considering throwing a TA22 diff into my girlfriends KE55 when the 2/3TG/whatever goes in, but if this is only slightly wider and has discs from factory it looks like an easier option.

They're as rare as hen's teeth though and 1410mm wide (ta22/ra23 diffs are 1370mm wide). Would be alot easier to do a ra23/8 or ra40 (1410mm wide) diff with ST141 disc brakes and you get a 50mm bigger diameter rotor then the ma45 setup.

Ah right, didn't realise how rare they were. I actually have a RA60 just chilling in the backyard that I was going to bastardise for some bits, assuming diff it is pretty similar to RA40? Also thinking of stealing the front strut setup, I have -heard- that with a spring wound for KE55 top hats it will all bolt straight in but who knows. Would go the other easy disc brake setup if it didn't work.

yeh but being rare doesnt help me sell it haha, it was all rebuilt a few years ago until i snapped an axle (i have one spare (how lucky was i to find 2 !))
im just gonna hang on to it untill some one with lots of money wants to restore a ma45 .

if ya have a question TRH ask it in tech forum you will get alot more views (i dont mind you thread jacking, just you wont get the views with a diff title)

    cheers

and yes, same bearings and maybe same rotors (i have not replaced the rotors, they were new when i bought it ages ago)

is it not just a kouki ae86 diff ? seems like they would be one in the same with the ma45 ?? same width, t series, bigger axels than normal t series, and the normal double row bearings as seen on all disc brake axels..

nope, I don't think AE86s had the big rubber booties on the back of the calipers like _A4_ disk rear ends. I think you can see the difference in this thread; http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37315

it was in a ae86 ages ago.
those ma46 diffs are an f series aye ?, this is 45 with t series.

the calipers are different to any other toyo ive seen thats what threw me. you dont un bolt the caliper and slide it up to change the pads, you have to remove the spit pins and slide metal slides out and then the piston block comes away.

i dont know if the mounts have been changed, its a neat job if it is.

early gt type celicas have those style of calipers with the aluminum slides and r clips.. so that could point to the celica/supra type thing or even earlier ta22/ta23 ra28 gt disc brake calipers.. maybe ?

Just reading into this I've looked into the te71 diffs and they do run the same style calipers as MA45s with the big rubber boot, makes sense as they were made around the same time. MA45 diffs are the same width as te71 diffs anyways so they are probably exactly the same diff minus mounts
