was reading what you said at the start, yeah the wire from the ignitor to the cabin was for rpm signal for the tacho lol.
You know what I have just realised. The wiring diagram I have been going off was cut off at the dotted line! Fuck no wonder I got it wrong. I just found another version of the diagram that isn't blurry as shit which shows the stuff beyond the dotted line. That plus the fact I didn't pick up on the negative switching has left me stuffed. Man I feel like slapping myself on the back of the head lol.

Nah the wire came from the Diagnostic box. It was spliced to the IG- wire there and for some reason blocked the signal going to the factory tacho if I used it.
Anyway its all good. Everything is working great now. Cheers everybody.
