Saturday 13th February 2010
The Perth Motorplex Pro Auto Performance Hi Tech event caters for the traditional Sport Compact market (primarily 4, 6 and Rotary powered vehicles) and the growing trend in late model V8 EFI equipped cars and EFI motorcycles.
The sounds of turbocharged engines and nitrous purges and anti-lag pops will be evident as around two hundred of Perth's sport compact enthusiasts take to the quarter-mile in their hi-tech machines.
Expect the passionate Mazda, Nissan, Suburu, Mitsubishi, Toyota and Honda owners to be out there trying to ensure that their marque comes out on top.
Growing in popularity is the Pro Auto Performance OZ EFI class for late model EFI eight cylinder street racers with vehicles such as Ford GT's, XR8's and GTP's and Monaro SV8's, Commodore SS's and HSV's from Holden will also be a part of the action too!

LS400 engine wouldn't comply ?

The only class which allows V8's is the OZ EFI.
And they only allow australian produced late model. (Thought (read: assumed) the LS400 was still imported and not made here??)
I got this response couple years ago when I asked about the cressida.
I'm sorry Rudi but you are right. It doesn't fit in to any of our
classes so you will be unable to participate.

LS400 was most likely imported complete as opposed to being assembled here, but then again so are heaps of other cars.
I wonder why they don't let the jap v8's compete in the OZ EFI section (would require renaming obviously), its not like we have a capacity advantage...
And the turbo/supercharged LSx motors of today kinda put down a fark load of power...

Yeah I don't know either.
I've asked them again last week or so but they haven't got back to me yet...

I think it is a bit of a Let down for all the UZ love around the traps here if you consider the power output of the UZ though it would surely compete against import 6's? not the OZ V8's which realistically are alot more powerful out of the box for the LS's etc.
Wish I had a F#%ken awesome toyota.. saving for the goodness now.... stay tuned....
hmm can i be bothered to take a tired NA mr2 down to try run under 18 seconds, but get a chance to flog the shit outta the car....
Wonder if i can get a replacement o2 sensor before the w/end
