    True, I guess it's easily lost in the interpretation as I read it one way way and you/others another - only HAVABEER would really know what's going on.

    I know SFA about a 5s-fe so I'm not going to argue either way, but on the 1JZ, 2JZ and 1UZs I've kicked around with for the last 12 years the O2 sensor definately has a huge say in what happens in closed loop under 3500rpm as long as the throttle is not near or at WOT.

    Does a 5sfe run an air flow meter? If so, it could also be contaminated - I know on 1UZs in Soarers guys screw them up occasionally with over oiled pod/panel filters.

    ahh ok. what % throttle does it have an effect up to?

    yah the have an AFM and the EGR is plumbed back to the intake/inlet hoses. Try cleaning thoe out/checking them. And yeah, i meant carby clean- brain fart

    My 1st st162 (3sge) had a rooted 02 sensor the whole time i had it. Idled fine and ran fine just hell rich when gunning it. 5s shoud bethe sma - it probs wouldnt hurt to check it though

    Is the CAT part of your headers. On my 1998 5SFE It is. If so it my have dumped a fair bit of oil in there.

    cat isn't part of the headers/manifold, theres a flexible flange but i doubt there's oil in there as it would have burnt off by now and as there's no more smoke coming out.

    As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are
