    Default 4A-FE leaking water pump

Hi all, I noticed a puddle under the wife's AE101 this morning and on further investigation I found a steady drip coming from behind the water pump. Not sure if it's the pump itself or the rubber hose behind it, but either way I need to take the pump off to inspect.

What's the procedure for this - can it be done with the engine in place? Looks like there's not a lot of room to work in there. I hate working on FWD cars.

If anyone knows where I can find a service manual online that would be tops. I've been searching high and low with no luck so far.

I've got the Gregorys stashed away somewhere, I'll try and dig it out

Water pump is engine in place but remove front mount and jack up the front of the motor.
The timing belt will need to come of though and the pump comin out can be a bit of a tight squeeze.
Chances are it might be the bypass hose at the back as they tend to swell up and expand the spring clamps.
If thats the case just remove the alloy pipe from the back of the head and just replace the bypass hose and clamps.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like next weekend will be spent in the stinking hot shed...

Water pump is driven by one of the accessories belt, why would the timing belt need to come off (unless additional access is needed)?

Because the timing belt passes over the top of the part that you unbolt from the block and the bolts are behind the cover.

Fair enough, under the timing belt cover is one of the places I haven't investigated on the 7A, haven't needed to
