    Hi,

    Not sure of the actual difference in mm, but yes, the 22 engine bay is shorter than that of the 23.

    Regarding the fitment of a 1UZ into a 22..... anything's possible, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is safe or legal.

    Hi,

    A few engines will fit....

    -> 2T-G
    -> 3T-G
    -> 18R-G
    -> 4A-G

    Those are the easiest ones, with the first 3 being the easiest. I'm sure there's other engines which will fit, but may require more work... such as 3S-G, etc. They are all 4 cylinder inline engines.

    I'm sure you could fit a 1G or 1JZ in there, but may require some fiddly work, extending the grille out a bit to fit, or even firewall work to get these 6 cylinder in-lines to fit.

    And there are V6 engines, but not sure what type 2GR?? etc.

    Also the legal requirements in Qld are different for NSW, so I'm sure one of our learned Qld friends will be able to post this info up for your state.

    Finally, do a search on these forums for engine options for a TA22, as I am sure it has been discussed a few times, and also search the members rides for TA22 and you may see a few there that have some nicely modded engine options.

    seeing your in the nice old land of QLD there is a few things pretty legal, and i think a 1uz might be as its 1.5 times factory motor size so if she had a 2l in there your fine, other than that you can go the usual 18rg/2T/3sge/3sgte/1gge/1ggte/1jz/2jz/7m if really crazy etc etc

    as for work doing a 1uz swap, if legal your gunna have to massage the trans tunnel to take the box, make custom engine mounts, custom exhaust and maybe custom extractors, lots of wiring, maybe a stronger diff so custom mounts etc etc,

    lots of money and lots of time and welding and wiring, if your new at this as it seems you are, maybe go for a factory bolt in engine for some fun and learning how things go and move up from there

    Hi,

    TA22 came with a 1.6litre engine.

    All wrong. 1UZ is legal in QLD - GT model is over 1000kg so 4x factory weight in cc's. Will still have to have serious brake/suspension/chassis upgrades to cope with extra power.
    I have -personally- spoken to a QLD engineer and he said he was more than happy to pass it provided everything else up to scratch.
    2JZ (and probably a lot of other 6's) won't fit without moving the firewall. Big issue with the 1UZ conversion is converting to a R&P steering setup otherwise you will have some serious troubles fitting the headers on there.

    My swap would be a 3SGTE, if you want easier run a 2/3T hybrid with boost.
    The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

    river:

    the_random_hero:
    geeze that is definitely good to know then... i'm still swinging towards the 1uz atm.. or possibly a 4agze but the i will also look into the 3sgte..
