    Default Celica heating issues

    Hi guys,

I'm new to the toyota car scene,

Anyways, my car seems to be overheating and the heater doesnt seem to be working.

Also, the check engine light comes on when it gets hot, when i turn the car off there is a hissing noise coming from the driver side engine bay.

I'm gonna top up the coolant tomorrow and see if that fixes the overheating issue. and check for any leaks.

Any advice on why the check engine light (i dont know the error code) is on or how to fix this issue?

    Thanks in advance

The car is a Gen 7 celica

Definitely check your coolant level as it could be dry...check that hissing noise probably find it might be a water leak.

check radiator cap (may not be pressurising thus blowing out the coolant and over heating)
    also check thermostat operation.

or just take it to the mechanic if you dont know what your doing.

if the topping up the coolant wont work, i'll flush it all out and change the thermostat to see if its the thermostat.

If the heater isnt working then I'm guessing its blocked.
    Flush the system thoroughly.
What colour is the coolant? rusty? any oily scum?

Hissing noise may be steam coming out the overflow - as said check the radiator cap is pressurising the system

Maybe the check light is indicating overheat

Sounds like thermostat is not opening ... but yeah, like other people said, check your coolant level, radiator cap and overflow bottle etc and also check to see if there is any visible leak...

If all this doesn't solve the problem for you, which I don't really think it will then you'll need to remove the thermostat housing, flush it and change a new thermostat.

and your heater not working is possibly a sign that there is f-a water in your cooling system. how long has it been overheating?

Hope you haven't toasted it already!
