    Hi.

the thing old_school_jap is talking about is the coilover sleeve that goes on the outside for coilovers. If you're meaning the shock absorber to go into the xt130 strut casing then people use the sw20 mr2 rears. That is if you cut the strut casing down as the mr2 is a short stroke shock.

The TA22 spring perch sits lower on the strut than the XT130. ie TA22 springs will be too long when fitted to a Corona strut. You can buy XT130 lowered springs from KINGS springs.

Chronologic history of TA22 brake upgrades.

The first brake upgrade on a TA22 celica, was to simply swap the RA23 strut and brakes into them, obviously the the strut top had to be swapped over.

The second upgrade was to install XT130 Corona strut and brakes as a whole assembly, again changeing the strut top.

The third iteration was the inclusion of RA60 vented rotors on the Corona strut, this necessitated the fitment of a spacer in the caliper to accomodate the extra width of the vented disc.

The fourth generation brake upgrade again used the Corona strut, RA60 vented disc, and the MX62 Cressida caliper. This was a bolt up job with simply fattenning of the caliper mount ears required. This setup has been used on Celica's with in excess of 200rwkw for street use.

The fifth generation brake upgrade was the Pug/HiLux, again using the XT130 strut. The ideal budget street and track setup.

The sixth iteration is the Hoppers Stoppers kit, fairly expensive in comparison to all the others, but it works extremely well.

    cheers Chuck.

    Hi,

But is the Hoppers Stoppers better value than the other options?

    Hi,

For interests sake I rang Hoppers Stoppers, and spoke to them about their brake upgrade kit for the Celica. It won't work for me because you need at least 16-inch Simmons to fit the kit. This is a problem with the Simmons wheels, as the bolts that hold the centre to the rim protude and hit the calipers.

Their kit only fits on Simmons that are 16inchs or larger.
