    Default TA22 disc brake conversion

Has anyone ever done the front disc brake upgrade conversion before using the corona/peugot/hilux parts, just wondered how it went and any major problems.

    Hi,

Dana (sillycarchick) did it on her 22 and as far as i know it was all sweet. I've just put mine into my 28 and they are alot better than the standard crap. Nothing complicated about it all, all bolts together rather well. I did the whole lot with coilovers, adjustable camber tops etc. The calipers i bought had near new pads so i just re-used the toyota hilux pads. I don't know if the other pads people recommend would work better or not. Might get Dana to take me for a spin in hers to see if there is much difference.

Thnks for that where did you get your coilovers from, are they anything special or just have to get the right diameter to fit the XT130 strut?

    Hi,

yup, they're the ones that i used. They are noisy but i suspect that is just the tender springs clanging a bit. Plus it's all metal on metal. I'm probably gonna go to clark rubber and see if i can get something made up to maybe quieten it a bit.

If you dont use coil overs can you use the TA22 spring and bearing plate on the XT130 strut....I dont think you can use the XT130 spring & bearing plate.

    Hi,

i don't think so..... not sure what the bolt spacing is tbh. But in having said that there is a thread here somewhere about putting the ra23/8 front strut assembly into a ta22, so there is no reason why it coudn't be done. Have a search and a read. Sounded inexpensive too from memory.

    Hi,

my car has a 1jz, so it has a ga70 master cyl (and it's a 28 so the camry one doesn't fit regardless) I can't remember what Dana has on hers, look it up!

I was looking at the late model camry master cyl when i was going to put it all into the 22 a year or so ago. I've not heard of the starion ones being used but definately the camry.

    Hi,

You shouldn't have to look to hard for them

Try Kelly's wrecking on beams road, fitzgibbon/carseldine area. They had a few xt130 rt132/133's last with struts last time i was there. At least 3 or 4 sets.

There's another one near caboolture from memory too that has a few older toyotas. That's where i actually got mine from. Can't remember the name though. Kelly's should still have them anyway.

And that reminds me ppl, kelly's has a yr22 with an f series diff there. $330 if anyone is chasing one.

A friend put the CPH setup in his TA22 a few years ago. It all fitted up fine as far as I can recall. Possibly even used TA22 King springs which fitted OK into the XT130 lower perch.

However when the car was at a reasonable height (not in the weeds, but a bit lowered) he had only 30mm of suspension travel before he hit the bump stop. I'm afraid I can't remember the exact details, but keep an eye on things when you're assembling.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

Kickstart, I have a set in the Garage, still complete but I can strip them if you want.

Need some cash - fifty bucks to you, sir. That's what they cost me from Wacol wreckers anyhoo. I'm in Brissy southside if you're keen. PM me.
