    Default ST202 3SGE Gearbox into ST162 3SGE

    Pretty much as the title goes;

    Will a Gen 3 3SGE's gearbox from an ST202 fit into a Gen 1 3SGE in an ST162?

    Direct swap that is.

    provided it's an s54 box i'm pretty sure it will. you'll have to get the starter motor with it also tho.

    do you have pics?

    Should fit fine, and a standard clutch, flywheel and starter should be usable provided the input shaft has the same amount of splines.

    Canada seems a long way to get a gearbox from though?!

    the starter is on the opposite side of the box with the later s series box. ie not under the exhuast manifold.

    i think you'll also need the st202 cables, as someone i know had issue with the st184 cables not fitting the st202/4 linkages properly.

    anyreason this box in particular? it's awefully expensive esp once you add shipping.

    cheaper alt's are a NA mr2 box with some mod's to the linkages, or an st184 box will fit perfect and give you longer ratios and drop revs to about 2600rpm 5th@100kph

    use a late model starter - the one not under the exhaust manifold
    use the st16 gearbox mounts
    use a camry (5s model) speedo drive/sender. It has both an elec plug/worm drive in one.
    use standard st162 shifter cables with shifter arms from s53 box

    all toyota parts can be used

    Do you need a different flywheel if you use a gearbox side starter? I always thought you did which is why I haven't used them myself, if I don't need a different flywheel I'll swap mine over

    Yep, flywheels are different - ring gear needs to be flipped around.
