Here is a link to a 5sgte on youtube, showing the build in fast forward. Also all the bits he put in the motor.

as soon as you use the 5s block you wont be able to use the beams vvti as the 3sge altezza block is the only rwd block for vvti .i would go forgys go up in bore 86.45 get some longer rods like about 6mm longer ,im using a longer rod than this thou and the new pistons will be about 14.4 to 1 comp and red line at 9400 rpm
for your application about 9.3 to 1 comp change valves and springs clean up ports etc
going to 91 mm stroke from 86 is hardly worth it and your red line of 8500 would be ok

I'm looking at doing this conversion to my AE101 Levin (The 4AGZE doesn't quite cut it anymore). I've got the Gen4 3SGTE from a Caldina, but need the 5S block and bottom end.
I plan on strapping a screw type supercharger to it for something different too.

What sort of boost can I expect to be able to push through the 3S and the 5S blocks?
Also, where can I find a late 5S in Brisbane? I got no idea where to look......

And lastly, where can I find all the nitty gritty specs on these engines? I got the Engine Analyzer Pro software, so I would like to run some simulations to make sure I'm in the ballpark before I start the build.
Things like flow rates of the gen4 3SGTE head and manifold, spring rates, weights of rotating components etc etc.

If anyone's interested, my Gen IV 3S-GTE crank is sitting at home.

Whether it's any good anymore after the engine blow up (large overboost causing number 1 rod to twist & snap).

The remains of the lower part of the rod (spindly) took very little persuasion to come off.

its not cheap.......... 2188cc out of the box..... stroke 92mm, bore 87mm

just get custom pistons made for 3SGE use
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!

Why all the talk of custom pistons to suit 3SGE heads? The heads are essentially the same for each Gen 3SGE versus 3SGTE so no need for different piston crowns.

For 300rwkw i'd just stay with the BEAMS block and crank. The crank appears fine to 9000rpm which is what Bate's Altezza saw on a regular basis (anyone remember the demo run at the first Rally Syd).

Decent rods (mess with the length if you want to get expensive) and pistons and good turbo selection and should be pretty straight forward. We made 320awkw pretty easily with a JUN 2.2 in a GT4 and the 3SGTE 22 Celica i built ended up with 270rwkw from an old skool TO4E on a stock 3SGTE. Streetability of both these setups was pretty decent, but boost did come on hard and the 22 needed more revs to make better use of the big turbo.

Tristian should be able to sort you out easy Ash. Keen to see how it all pans out.
