Wakefield Park Track Day - Friday February 12th!!

Oh man, what a drive!

Had a great day out there. Not much track time though unfortunately.

Doing the wheel alignment in the pits took until 10 then I snapped an exhaust mount first time out, so it was off to the muffler dude in Goulburn and back to the track for one more quick session. Got my passenger times down from 1:20-21 to consistent 1:19s all morning. Never got a run in the dry without a passenger though to see what the ultimate pace is like with the coilovers.

Had some lunch, went to jump back in the car to head out again and just as I came out the garage it started pissing down, so I chucked it in reverse, waited for the rain to die down a little and took a passenger ride with Finney before heading out sheepishly in the wet. the wet sessions were a lot of fun ... except for when the river started to form across the track when you are coming down the hill, which decided that the AW11 is not heavy enough to withstand the torrent decided to wash my car completely off the track... That was me done for the day because there were only 10 minutes of track time left once the rain died down again.

The drive home again, I waited until the rain cleared (driving home on the semi slicks) and it was great... until I hit Campbeltown where it was pissing down, and then it continued to piss down all the way down the M5 and to home. My aircon also decided to die on the drive down there, so I had to contest with fogging windows as well... not so much fun...

All in all a great day out though

I was on the fwy in a convoy travelling at 60 in that rain. absolutely mental.

Jeesh, i went from wakefield up to illawarra hwy to get across to wollongong.. Would have been an awesome drive, but:

a) for about 30min i couldn't see more than about 15m in front of the car, the fog was insane on illawarra hwy.. at about 5pm??.. Hit this again in campbelltown
b) I never knew where macquarie pass was, but i accidentally found myself driving through it. Fog was clear by this point so all good, except for the woman i got stuck behind all the way down that was doing NO MORE THAN 25KM/H, and like 5km through corners. WTF... this woman shouldn't be driving, it would have been quicker on a pushbike. Frustrating much??????????????

Anyways, i now have wheels, they would have been spotless until old mate marked them getting the tyres off. Nice one

Oh and those who don't see the value in aircon, pffffffffffffffffft. My drive home consisted of either being wet, or hot and foggy

man it was like a day of continuous fail. theres so much shit that went wrong it will take me a while to make a proper post, but in summary out of the five or so laps that i was actually able to do at full bore i RAPED my previous pb




and i drove the car all the way back home without a hitch!!

Haha good work Vito, I am happy with my time of 1:19.. first time on the track in a stocker
