Talking 4 stud to 5 stud, the custom way?

So I have a 5spd 1uz MX73 Cressida. It's 4 stud. I like Lenso D1Rs. I want to put some on. They are 5 stud. Any dudes in QLD who can assist me with this?

I asked a guy on the cressida forums that did it on his. Had some fat ass work equips on it. like +10s.

He told me, the got his hubs, took out the studs, plugged and tigged the holes. Drilled out 5 new ones, machined, new studs. tada.

Now. What will the structural integrity be like? Especially with the torque of the 1uz.

I already have 300ZX tt 4 piston calipers, which are a straight bolt-on upgrade, so changing hubs/steerings arms etc. is a road I don't want to go down.

    Cheers

Yes they are both Crowns, MS65 is '71-74 & MS123 is '83-87. All I can say is good luck

good luck? does that mean they are rare? bit like the gx81 booster i try'd to find for my conversion and everyone at the wreckers laughed at me (ended up finding a booster and master from a rolla that fit in good nick for 40 bucks)

    darby / Pyr0s,

I'd suggest a search for converting MA61 supra to 5 stud, the process is identical for MX73

There is heaps of info out there.

That said, I wouldn't bother (again, I've done it twice so far). I'd put the money saved in not converting to 5 stud towards 4 stud wheels...

Going rate for MS65 hubs is around $250-$350, and MS123 about $150-$200.

Labour wise the MS65's bolt on no issues, but the rears are much easier to get someone with a press to install them. Probably $100 labour and maybe an extra $50 in parts (not including new bearings).

The ONLY benefit is rim selection.
If you can find decent rims in 4 stud, go that way.

If you haven't got rims and you haven't got the hubs, then search for the rims that you want.
If they are 5 stud, convert. If they are 4 stud leave it.

I did it this way, and found an almost perfect set of rims in 5stud, so a conversion was needed.

also check out takai's ma61 members rides thread hes bolted in MX83 cressida LCA struts and hubs for his 5 stud conversion on a MA61 (same as MX73).

its more work and it increases the distance between the hubs meaning you have to run higher offset wheels on the front.
