    And yes as mentioned above if they are anodised then that will help them last a lot longer, though you will still need to keep an eye on how the anodising lasts. It'll still wear off after a while.
    No they actually are a gear, a pulley is a ribbed design whilst a gear is a toothed design.

    The hks box actually says slide cam pulley but they advertise them as cam gears.

    They're ribbed, and they're a pulley. They don't change direction, or speed, of foreword motion.

    Technicalities

    I purchased the Ultrex performance ones in the end. The other ones were $75 for the pair but shipping made the Ultrex ones cheaper
