this might be a weird question, but what kinda car is it? And if it's a conversion, what kinda car is the 1jz out of?

Also that grease on the diag plug (it's white grease in mine) is there to protect the terminals from corroding. You will probably find it's in the relay/fuse box terminals too. Nothing abnormal, and haven't had it cause connection issues on mine.

ive checked the map sensor, the pipe was fine and it had vacuum.

no fuel in vacuum hose for the fuel pressure regulator.

the ecu in it says a/t on it? does it matter that my cars manual?

i had it in the mechanic to see if they had an idea...

i also had it compression tested, the cylinders where between 190 and 170 psi, hows that rate for 1jzs?

im going to do all i can at home before i get it looked at by a dyno place, il try replacing the sensors next

If it doesnt have booost cut, then it could have a fuel cut defender wired in somewhere . I would check the wiring near the ECU for one . If the wiring for the MAP sensor plays up it will run as described . Long shot, but free to check .

Otherwise swap in a dif map sensor and also try the crank angle sensor . Cam sensors dont usually play much havoc until higher up in the RPM so if its start up and down low, then bypass all of those . Does it missfire o as in spark related or is it just fuel related ???

    Cheers, Dan .

    dieseltrain,

im not sure wither its spark/sensor/fuel related i can only describe the problem,

its intermittent ie it doesnt happen all the time, it seems to happen more often after i leave a set of traffic lights, ie the car has come to a stop and has to accelerate. it seems to happen when the car is underload (going up a hill or accelarating from standing).

the motor splutters and almost dies hardly any power at all, put the clutch in roll for abit then try again..

is it only at 2K rpm?
or is it shitty from idle to 2K, then it gets better?

my old ma61 w/ 1jz had that problem, and it turned out the timing belt had jumped a tooth - it meant it ran like a pig below ~2500rpm and blew black smoke, but once it was on boost you didn't notice it. Check timing stat.

i had it looked over by a dyno shop.

the o2 sensor was gone, and there was almost no fuel pressure due to the fuel pump variable voltage thing being broken, both fixed.
