Umm, I do own a 'crappy' commodore, and have owned them several times. Fuel on the V8 is about 20% more than our corolla, and I have never spent a cent on repairing it. But I'm sure your opinion is justified, somehow.

I don't know what to say about the opinion that "commodores are crap just because they have buick engines", except... OK.

And the generalisation that VE's are crap... Is there any part in particular? Or they just are because you said so?

Oh, and that the only good motor Holden has is the RB30, huh? Guess you're another "the LS1/L98/etc V8 is crap because it has pushrods" person, right?

Hey, I would never choose to put an Ecotec into a Crown either, but seriously, you're comments are just as valuable as the old bogan "all jap built stuff is rubbish... just cos I said so!".

We are now using the Commodore as our daily driver and have scrapped the V6 idea, we now plan to combine both our 1975 Crowns to build a great streeter or convert one into a ute and use the original running gear.
One of our Crowns has a 9/10 CS body and interior and the other was our daily driver with a 5/10 body and 10/10 mechanicals, we just travelled 3,000 klms in it without any problems not that I would expect to have any either.
The 9/10 body will be transfered to the 10/10 mechanicals and use all the daily drivers interior, steering, dash, electrics and air in the 9/10 body. The 9/10 body is a cs model with now air setup and nothing much else. I've already cut the front subframe off the 9/10 body and am in the process of welding up an A fame at either end so the body can be rotated for easy access. I'll have to get a digital camera and setup a site showing the entire process, I would love a tray back ute but then again this cs
body is to good to cut up but it will have to be one or the other as this will be my last Crown project before I retire in a few years. I have a 38 Dodge 5 windowed coupe stored for my retirement project.

Great result in the end then!

Once you get pics, load them up into a "members rides" thread on here. A lot of ppl will be interested, and should be able to give ideas as well.

Yeah the pushrod system is old and needs to be updated with the times. the Ls1 the L98 and the V8 are old engines that leak oil on the rear main seals like its not going out of fashion.

Holden produce cars on average 10 years is a new body shape and every 10 years they are crap when the roll of the production line it started with the VN then VT and now VE, and in between the new models every series after that they fix things that are shit on them and add more crap...

if my comments are the value of 0 or bogan type, then mate so are yours because there is no right or wrong there is oppinion, and if you cant grasp that, that is your choice

im not a holden fan nor ford both company's in my oppinion make rubbish cars and that personal expiriance and expiriance as an auto electrician. You oppinion and expiriances maybe different to mine, i dont judge you, so just take a chill pill and relax.

Notice that up to now the only opinion I put out there is the one about your blanket, unjustified statements... sorry, 'opinions'... leading to the most retarded post ever?

The rest of my post was asking questions, trying to understand what made you publicise such narrowminded observations that all commodores are crap. Seems it all comes down to a leaky rear main seal and a 10 year model turnover.

The reason you piss me off, is that I recall when Aussie's/Yanks used to slander jap crap with not even a sceric of a reason. We all knew they were wankers more interested in the power trip of beating up on shit for fun, and were mature enough on these forums not to bite. You seem to stoop to the same low level, beating up on anything with pushrods or a few extra kilos.

Can't we just acknowledge the fact that they're designed for completely different purposes? Try towing a caravan across the nullabour to perth in your boosted cressida and tell me it does a better job than a 'crap' two-tonne V8 commodore or a Territory.

seems to me you cant hack what other people think and you bite, i dont have to justify my oppinions to anyone, its just that is an oppinion, Now you can tow your caravan to perth behind your crappy bomodore if that tickles your fancey, i for one would own a caravan nor would i drive to perth id rather take the easy way fly and rent a car there.

As i said before oppinions vary from me to you, if you cant hack that then dont comment, you may think my post was retarded i dont, i know that comodores are shit and i will stick to that you can do what ever you wish.

And as far as i can tell this is a public forum so we can comment and state or oppinions any which way we choose unless someone tells me otherwise....

You have a good day and keep your pushy comment towards me to yourself

I'm prob gonna come into this at the wrong time but my bro has had a VN commodore for about 10 years now and no doubt he has been fixing things but its still going well into the 450-500k.

They don't exactly take my fancy as a car i'd own but someone might think that about the rides that I have driven, in the end the only opinion that really matters is the one in ur head

I have always preferred to keep engines within the same manufacturer, it feels more patriotic to Toyota to keep the same engines that were designed and manufactured by them then to make something more convienient due to price, availability of parts or even reliability. Its just knowing that there is a Toyota engine in that toyota shell that just does it for me

    G'day,

Top cheap conversion!, best thing i ever done to my ute!

    The mission: V6 Conversion
    Time: 48hrs
Goal: To be completed in the shed
    Budget: $ 0.00

bought this for $1000 and sold $500 worth of stuff off it

Pulled out all the wiring intact and spreed it all out in the triton the same way it come out the comy. made the cluster and key barrell fit, wired up the lights and wipers to mine by cutting the exsisting comy plugs off the loom. Made the in tank fuel pump fit. Bolted in the seats and cut the comy carpet to fit and some tex screws held the console in place and hey presto you got 10x the power half the fuel usage and great doughnuts!

Looks right at home in a dirty rotten old triton

Funny thing is the only thing that held me was in the end the car wouldnt start!, i pulled my hair out, kicked everything and was on verge of having a Mitsubishi BBQ... Then i pressed UNLOCK on the key! (makes red falshy light go out and disables factory commodore immobiliser)

I can state a fact and not just 'another opinion'. You really cannot spell and you're grammar is the level of a 10 year old kid.

If Commodores are as 'crap' and 'shit' as you say, with the amount that have been produced over the years, every workshop/mechanic would be always fully booked out working on Commodores..... Which is not the case...
