Question 1GGTE Injectors, Which is better?

    Hey guys,

Ive got a gz20 1ggte gen1 with (yellow injectors) but a mate recently gave me a set of gen3 (green) injectors and said they are slightly higher capacity and would be a good idea to swap them over.

Is his info correct? Is it worth it? Will they run ok off a gen1 ECU?
I was thinking of putting in a set of 440cc injectors out of a 7m but Ive been told thats a bit overkill.

    Any info would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

Not sure what you mean by better!

Yes the gen 3s have higher flow but with the standard ecu your engine runs too rich across the range anyway - larger injectors would make this even worse. Same issue with the 7mgte injectors.

In addition both the gen 3 and the 7mgte are low impedence and there for not compatable with your existing ECU.

Gen3 are high impedance actually, that's why they have no ballast resistor. You're right about the 7MGTE ones though.

Ignoring that fact, Craig is spot on. Unless you need more fuel because you've drastically changed the airflow requirements, there is no advantage to bigger injectors.

    Gen1/2 are 295cc @ 38psi
    Gen 3 are 315cc @ 42psi

ie for a given pressure they flow the same.

Buizzy is one of my good mates and he has left a little info off this he is planning on running a single bigger turbo and aftermarket computer on this 1G soon enough maybe that changes your thoughts guys. I think he said KKR430 for the turbo and an AFC of some description on saturday when i saw him.
Wish I had a F#%ken awesome toyota.. saving for the goodness now.... stay tuned....

7MGTE injectors are the way to go if he plans to go aftermarket ecu.

    Cheers guys,

I have a bigger cooler and single turbo on the way and have an apexi afc but not sure if im gona use it yet or go for a complete aftermarket ecu like a haltec or something along those lines. The heads being completely rebuilt by a mate and will have all new timing gear. Should be a prity sweet running motor if i could only find a single turbo manifold.
Might just have to make a Y pipe for it. But i think with all that 7m injectors should be the way to go.

Just wondering for certain...its the fuel pressure regulator that adjusts the pressure difference from 38 to 42 psi right with the slightly larger injectors?

I'd assume so yes, that the Gen3 FPR is different to the Gen1/2

An aftermarket adjustable FPR should be ok change the pressure to whats required for the gen3's shouldn't it?
But with a standard ECU and a AFC I still cant run them cause of the impedance can I?

You are either not explaining yourself properly, or you're not understanding what is being said.

If you increase your current fuel pressure from 38psi to 42psi, your current Gen2 injectors will flow the same* as Gen3 ones.
If you put Gen3 injectors into your motor and leave the standard fuel pressure, they will flow the same* as your current Gen2 ones.
