1jz alternator dead, dash issue can anyone answer this question please?

hey all

my alternator seems its not charging, its not wiring isses so its just dead dead.

being outta a job means very little money so i was just curious about the best place to get new bushes, any tips/tricks to installing them and the chances that the problem is only going to be bushes?

its not even 100.000kms old yet so yeah...

More likely to be the regulator take it apart and have a look. Try Ashdowns for parts

yeah i will do thanks mate, any tell tail signs of it being busted? (burns, metal dust etc etc)

Not at Brendale at Virginia Springwood and Archerfield. Mate of mine went there and got a branded Denso regulator .I think you will find the regulator is common to other Toyotas and other Japanese cars

now something thats come up that seems sus, my dash willnot appear when the alternator is not on the car, is that cause i DO have an issue with my wiring?

just seems odd that the dash would be drawing power from the alternator.


and the only reason that i came to the point that the alternator was busted was that i traced the leads and i believe that i have the wiring correct, but im sure that when the car didnt have a engine the dash still lit up when a battery was connected......i think......

I know the MA70 dash is solely earthed through a single wire that goes from the dash loom, through the engine loom, and to ground (I have no idea where exactly in a stock car)

It could be that this wire is connected to your alternator earth?
Earth that wire at the alternator plug and see if the dash works.

yeah i will try it, im sure its only one of the pins in the plug off the back so yeah cheers..

well im getting 12v to all 3 wires (sense, IG and Light) on the alternator plug so yeah

stupid i know but am I fine earthing one at a time to try if the Light wire is wrong.........

You could take the alternator to an auto electrican and have him test it for you.

yeah well ive got it here on my deck ready to get tested but im flat broke ATM. i dont even have the $5 to get it tested lol
