1jz alternator dead, dash issue can anyone answer this question please?

This indicates your wiring is fine.

stupid i know but am I fine earthing one at a time to try if the Light wire is wrong.........

You want to earth wires which are live? I can already tell you what the outcome will be, and it's not good!

im sure its just a fucked alternator and ive crossed wires somewhere for the dash, but everything is fine when it is charging

Dont earth the wires if you have 12 volts at the terminals as you will just blow fuses, but in saying that i think you could earth the wire for the light as that will not cause any issues, but either way its not going to help your situation ..

How many wires were there at the B+ terminal on the Alternator, if it had a couple of wires to it before you pulled the Alternator off thats your answer as they are probably not together now, if it had only one wire then i'm out of ideas .. Unless you maybe have blown a fusible link ? ...

well there is 3 on the plug as usual and there are 2 at the B+, one runs to the fusebox to give back charge and the factory wire that is meant to run power back, now the wire i installed has 12v as it runs on te othe side of the main power line in the fusebox, and the other one is just 0v, i did bolt them together and that gave me nothing new, but just for kicksi did plug in the main plug to the alternator just sitting in the bay, and sure enought the dash works.

so i think ive just got something wrong somewhere dash wise and my alternator is just needing replacement, i dont know how its earthing the dash but yeah....lol

i know this is stupid but when you have your ignition on with out the alternator in place did u have the battery connected?

also while you were removing it did you make any sparks, cheack the main fuses in the engine bay first.... and most auto elecs (well me anyway i dont charge for testing units)

yeah it was connected, i know as my turbo timer was still coming on and so were all the warning lights but no dash, but as soon as it was all plugged back it it worked fine
