I know the early model NA JZA80's are such. The wiring for the auto transmission is found within the engine loom, that feeds both the ECU, and the engine plugs too - the neutral start switch is also contained in the wiring going to the auto.

Just to add a bit to this, you will have to watch out for part compatibility. I've been looking (not measured yet) at an early celsior box as well as an 88 supra turbo box.
The ring gears aren't interchangeable because of the engine output bolt patterns. Torque convertors can't be swapped between ring gears because of a slight difference in the PCD of the bolts. Bell housings are a different length so its not just a simple swap of bell/ring gear/convertor, as the input shaft spacing is different. I've put the celsior convertor on the supra box and it appears to spin freely (without the bell on), but the supra convertor on the celsior box (with bell) has a slight fouling on something, which means the convertor cross section or gearbox input shaft length is slightly different.
