    Default qld engineering questions

ok guys alot of you know i have a 180sx with a 1jzgte.

now i want to upgrade to a 2jz but ive been hearing about alot of changes to the qld laws like apparently now you cant increase the amount on cylinders from factory.

so my question to you guys is can i legally convert it from a 1jz to a 2jz and get it modplated.

    thanks duggy

Call the dept of transport, ask them.
Or call an engineer who fits the modplates.

increase in engine capacity is based on weight of car as delivered from the factory - what's the normal weight of a 180SX?

    number of cylinders is irrelevant.

capacity and induction type (forced/natural) is the critical factor.

i do not know if that is actually from QLD though.

apparantly all the info is in the 'code of practice - light vehicle modifications' book.. which you can buy for $95.08 from here..

    https://www.bookshop.qld.gov.au/Prod...&Product=M7585

this PDF of the modification guidelines is only usefull for wheels, and bonnet scoops..

    http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/reso..._vehicles2.pdf

and this just tells you what they look for.. not how to work it out..(

    Hi,

as far as i know nothing has changed yet. According to wiki the 180sx weighs 1220kgs which means legally you can put a 2jz in it. It should be 3cc per kg for over 1100kgs. Just gotta get it re-mod plated and you're away.
