Hard to say, and it depends on the model. The YR22 sported an injected 4YE from about the mid-80s. But I think the lower spec YR20 and 21 of the same era were carbed.

What are you trying to sort out? Some extra background info would probably make it easier for people to help.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

Mine is running rough and the local mechanic can't get it any better it origenly came out with a 3 y but last year we fitted a brand new 4y from Toyota ran great for a while then started to slowly deteriate idle all over the place stalling or running that fast you can hardly hold it with the brakes someone suggested getting a tune up module off eBay that hooks up to your ecu hence the reason for my request thanks

The 4Ys came both as carb'ed and fuel injected. Since it's not the factory motor you could have either fitted. Easiest way to check is to see if it has a carb or an intake manifold with injectors.

Given it was running fine and now is all over the shop a "tune up" module sounds like a bandaid solution to a different underlying problem. I'd be checking the basics and working through each component until you find whatever is broken/misbehaving.

start with the usual suspects, plugs would be my first guess. more so since its probably a chinese motor and probably came with chinese spark plugs.
