    Default Fuel system advice

Hey.. i have just had a 1j built to use in my track car.. pistons, rods, cams, whole lot..
induciton side of things will be handled by a garrett gt35r with .63 rear..maybe a .82 if im not happy with the .63..

ATM im planning to use 540cc injectors for the power im chasing.. not much 400-450rwhp.

im now in the stages of collecting parts for a fuel system to suit.. this is where i need advice.. im going to run a fuel cell, surge tank, external fuel pump and lift pump..

for main pump i was thinking bosch 044.. cheap and effective..
couple of questions though. would a stock ma70 fuel pump suffice as a lift pump?
what are the advantages/disadvantages of foam filled fuel cells?
opinions of bosch 044 as main pump?
    opinions of injector size?

im not chasing massive numbers.. im more after low down/midrange response.. hence the .63 rear..

    advice, experience, professional oppinions required..

    cheers

Stompy... You were at the workshop just this arvo man... Shoulda asked the boss...

540cc injectors - plenty big enough, will support about 400-450rwhp pretty easily
MA70 stock pump as lift is plenty, afterall its not under much load at all if you would even say a lift pump is under load...
Bosch 044 will be just fine as a main pump
foam filled cells will reduce fuel sloshing about so much, but the main reason they are usually fitted is safety regs for most racing classes require them

If in doubt call the workshop... You know the phone number...

    Now - 1988 GX81 Mark II- 7MGTE, GT35R, TiAL 44m, Microtech, 550cc injectors, R154, Xtreme clutch, LSD.... Low boost tune done = 330rwhp@1 BAR...
Then - 1989 MX83 - The big scrap heap in the sky...

    Stomps...

540s will be getting maxed out at 450rwhp... my 550s were very close to topped out at ~350rwkw, for reference. (nb: lots of variables, just for reference). I'd suggest 650s, or whatever else is cheap and has decent spray patterns.

The 044 is perfect for your power goal - lock it in Eddie

As a lifter..... take the following with a grain of salt. I have gone with the stock JZA80 TT as a lifter, with fuel return back to the surge tank. In retrospect, I think I'd go for a bigger high volume, low pressure lifter; and have the return to the tank, so the fuel doesn't get too hot (my pump gets noisy after being driven in anger at the track... no ill effects, just noise)

Foam cells.... get yourself a good surge tank with baffles, and life will be happy.
