throw the bearings its not worth putting it in and finding out 2 weeks later they are rubish, depending on the amount of rust some wet and dry should do the trick on the gears
Hi guys,
i acquired a while ago a T series diff centre for my celica as a spare. it has come about now that i need it. however it has not been stored properly and some tiny tree leaves and dirt has gotten into it and among it. there are also some signs of some surface rust on the bearings.
I am hoping these wont be too much of a problem, but i thought i would ask just in case, and what is the best way to clean it out without damaging the bearings and what not, I was thinking a diesel bath or something.
and would i need to sand back the surface rust or will that just dissapear after a few good runs.
cheers guys. let me know.
Jamie

I'd give it a clean down with whatever you have (brake cleaner/diesel/kero/...), check that the pinion turns freely and throw it in.
It's not worth pulling the centre out, replacing the bearings and setting it up again. You can find another centre at pick-a-part for cheap if it turns out your current one is stuffed.
