Default Help needed with Toda 264 / 256 cams.

I recently installing used Toda 264 / 7.9mm inlet and 256 7,9mm exhaust cams to my AE82. FXGT
The motor is a near standard bigport 4AGE with headers, 2" exhaust and cold air intake. I've shimmed the valves perfectly to the new cams, had the crank pulley on 0 (No1TDC) and lined up both cam pulleys. I set the cam dowels as the manual states with exhaust and intake cam lobes facing opposite each other on No 1 and lined up the marks on the dizzy, but it just wouldn't run. I then pulled the dizzy out and moved the gear forward out of sinc and it kind of ran but was a dog to drive. I then checked the timing and discovered it was running at 57 deg! and would stall every time I moved the dizzy. I finally got it to run after advancing the exhaust cam to max and turning the dizzy back also to max its now at 8 deg with no room left to advance I've adjusted the cam forward over one tooth in order to get it to run smooth it drives well but its lacking badly in power.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong as I've installed standard cams many times with no problems at all. It's as if the dizzy drive gear on the exhaust cam is out causing these problems I even advanced the intake cam to max and it still runs smooth.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

hi, im not sure how you measure 57deg, as its off the dial, maybe a tooth or two or just a figure of speech?
but what i have noticed the way mine behaves is that a small increase in rpm , from 750-1200 advances the ignition timing to right off the dial.
so if you had hot cams and were trying to set the idle ignition timing with the idle too high you may actually not be getting a correct reading.

I couldn't get a reading at all with my timing light so a mechanic mate came around with his Snap On Timing light which has a digital reading on the gun and a dwell adjustment it was reading 57deg so I just went off that figure. It's the first time I've ever put in non standard cams so I'm not all that experienced. RPM was about 1300 with the check connector shorted any lower RPM and the car just stalled.

Really happy with the result a fair bit more midrange and pulls all the way to redline where as before it would drop off at around 6500 rpm. Want to build a 7 rib bottom end now with higher comp pistons.
