If it is still in reasonable health i.e. not blowing smoke etc, my vote would be leave it there!

My first celica had the 2T on board and it was a blast!
It got a 25-65 Ivan Tigh cam (friggin NO idea what those figures mean) which lumped away nicely at idle, a slight shave of the head to give 10:1 compression, a 350 holley carb, and a set of extractors mated to a 2 inch 'sports' exhaust. I could outrun all my mates with bombed 6cyl early commodores both over the quarter and top speed, plus it pulled gnarly slides into 2nd gear when you were giving it a hard time! Long before the term was known I was doing drifting with the thing as well as dirt rallying etc... Made the trip from Rocky to Mt Tamborine in 5hrs i.e. pulled quite a few revs for quite long periods!

A 2T built in this way and treated as described above should almost survive your P plates at which time it will be worth thinking about that turbo upgrade!

    My 2c worth,

    Cheers,
    Jason
Agreed the 2T is very underated, slap a turbo on it (when off P's) and hold on

    Hi,

Don't forget you can always go to the Classifieds section on these forums, and post in Parts Wanted, for a 2T-G. Maybe a fellow Toymodder has one?

    A healthy 2T is a shitload better than a 18-Rc.

    A 18r is a small boat anchor.

A 2T+Webber+Extractors and exhaust is the shiz for the old22.(sounds like a small aircraft on the freeway).

A 3tgte would be good,a tops engine but super old and expensive to rebuild. A 1G for an IS200 would make a very cost effective upgrade.

What is it with people assuming that because an engine doesn't have a turbo, that it's P Plate Legal? FFS people, P Platers cannot drive a vehicle that has a "modified engine". Just because the engine is stock, doesn't mean it's not a modified engine when it's put into a 70's Celica!

Hell, why not put in a 3.6L 210kw Holden V6 in a 70kg KE20... It must be P Plate Legal because it's a stock engine.

These numbers are theoretical and truly apply if you set them up that way (IE your valve lash is set correctly and your cam is timed in the correct position).

Ahhh... Thanks YelloRolla! Duration and overlap figures I do understand!

Better factor in some extra pocket money if ya gunna drive like a total idiot!
