    Default New Rotors & Pads

    Hey guys,

Just in the process of putting new rotors in.

I have new brake pads too, but my current set are only a couple of months old, can I still use them, or is it better to put in the new pads together with the new rotors?

Is there any good tips to bed new pads/rotors in?

you can reuse the old brake pads thats not a problem at all, if your rotors were outta round (wobbly when on the brakes), youll probly find the pads wont be perfectly flat might be worn a little uneven..

best bet is IF you can, find a really thick pain of glass, put a piece of sandpaper on it and work your pads in a figure 8 motion till the whole pad face has had a rough by the sandpaper, that will insure its flat again and ready for use with a new rotor...

if you cant find a pain of glass try use something 100% flat or close too...

    hope that helps!

I've noticed most rotor manufacturers DONT recommend bedding in new rotors with new pads at the same time. Something to do with the resins released by a new pad affecting the bedding process of the disc itself.

Obviously as pandaah said above you don't want old pads that have terrible wear patterns though....
