Fujitsubo exhausts have a nice sound. This is for the AE101.


60mm center pipe and the pipes going into each muffler are 50.8mm

Hmmm. Not overly impressed at this stage.

The buzz is mostly gone, but still there under full throttle. Apparently it should mute down when the system carbons up (it won't, not from my experience). Thing is, he put in a hot dog resonator, when I told him to put an oval style muffler or two in, why can't people just do what I ask? Do I really have to make my own exhaust to get what I want? The freaking dashboard shakes at 2500RPM under load and the rest of the car vibrates at random RPM. I told him loud wasn't too much of an issue, but I didn't mean it had to rival a jet aircraft.....

He still has to put a high flow cat in this Saturday, so I've hit him up to install a few oval resonators in place of the almost useless hotdog. We'll see what happens...




Oh, this is in no way a reflection on the quality of work from the workshop, I've got no problems with that at all. I just wish he listened a bit more closely, and I need a whinge.
Saturday will determine if it all comes off and goes in the bin or if it's happy time again.




I have looked at the Fujutsubo, but I don't like the spit at the rear. If this new exhaust ends up sucking, I'll probably go for the Fujitsubo and replace the rear T piece with a proper merge. Is the Fujitsubo a straight through design?

what brand are the exhaust components used? Looks like you could also fit much larger bodied mufflers at the back.

In my experience, both redback and supercat mufflers are a lot raspier than the equivalent Lukey mufflers. The supercats are also about half the price of an equivalent lukey.

I've tried a lot of different 2.5" muffler combo's in an effort to shut up a supercharged 1zzfe (about 12 different combinations actually), I found magnaflow to be the best and provide the best note with no drone. The only downside to them is they're slightly more expensive than Lukey etc.

Anywhere that does supercat mufflers should be able to also do magnaflow, as they're distributed by the same company.

I feel your pain.

I have Magnaflow 2.25" steel core cat, Magnaflow 4" 2.25" barrel, 2" mandrel piping and a Magnaflow 4"x9"x11", 2.25" center/offset oval muffler to twin 3" tips... it is rasp city and too loud.

It's a fully stainless system, inc FGK headers, there is naturally a reducer for the 2" pipe then the same to go back to 2.25" for the muffler... I was hoping 2" would shut the thing up somewhat.

A mate with just the magnaflow cat and the same muffler (only 2" longer) has rasp also, though he doesn't mind it.

I was thinking one of those spiral/corkscrew resonators (Do they even make these in stainless?).
But I don't think I have any bloody room left, unless I put one next to the fuel tank after the system turns 90deg.

Good luck, at least you have room to try a few more combo's. I've almost had enough of the gze and the noise it makes lol.

I'll ask what he used. The mufflers that are on there are smaller than the old system, and after telling him to use the biggest mufflers he possibly could, I'm a bit disappointed with his efforts at choosing mufflers etc.

Ah well, they only cost $160 together, I'll look into the Magnaflows for sure.



Here's the original system that was on the car (before the cannon that was before the new system) which didn't buzz at all. It has baffled rear mufflers and a straight through center muffler. The red squares are what I want to add to the new system in place of the hotdog resonator.

If you want one of the proper spiral resonators, Gonzo still makes them, he had a ton of them in his workshop when I was there last.

His workshop is now at Tingalpa in QLD, next door to Godzilla Motorsport. I can get prices for them when I collect some more vipec stuff later this week.

The V8 guys seem to love them, if you look up a "BPM Twister" muffler you can see the design. Gonzo used to make the exhausts and mufflers for BPM years ago when he was at Wynnum, I had one of his normal straight through turbo-back exhausts and it was very nice (circa 2001...)

I've not personally tried one of the spiral resonators myself but I was considering one for my new 2J setup.

If you can get price, length, body diameter and piping diameter I'll be interested.

I think a few db is what I need, having said that I've just put the rear up on stands and waiting for it to cool right down as I suspect a flange or two is loose/leaking.

I'm really happy with the note of the magnaflows, just the intensity and rasp is a bit much. It is touching the rear crossmember at times, which I'm sure isn't helping. We have to slap the system on without properly aligning/tweaking each section... heck it doesn't even have proper sized bolts holding the flanges together.. the fujitsubo header's dropped all 3 studs that the secondaries bolt to.., 1 actually disappeared the other two were only a couple of turns from dropping, car blew out the gasket and i've bodged in one from a nissan ute (had to re-drill the gasket... not fun or good, expecting it to crap out soon) and put in 3 bolts with locktite 243.

I'll take a sound/video when done, though they never give a proper impression of the noise.

Terra, Magnaflow stainless universals were under $200 each, bout 120-130 trade from memory. Rocket have some though they really only got in a "sample pallet" from memory, or Supercat cracked the shits with magnaflow as they're meant to be the only authorised distributor...

I'll soon have the Magnaflow 14815 from the M5 off (returning to factory system as it is better flowing) and might entertain using that, though center inlet on AE92 doesn't work .

Rocket have the 11226 listed (non polished version of the 14326) but no pricing.

Trade is around 50% of those prices.

You can get the 4" barrel for about $160-170 from rocket, if they still have them in stock, call them up.

Can you fit 2 of the 4" underneath your car?

No worries, think I've found one potential rasp point, 3rd flange has a gasket blowout top and bottom (non-flat flange surfaces perhaps?)... attached pics of my setup, thanks to rallystanza for building it!

In hindsight I should have looked around and found a bigger muffler. I might have to do that and forget the idea of having twintips (gheytips as they have been named)... they seem common in the UK for the ae92's...
