Default 4cyl tacho with 6cl engine can it work?

hey guys ive got a 180sx with a 1jz i want to get the standard tacho to work i was reading a few threads about tacho boosters but im not sure if this will suit my needs.

so i have just a few questions.

will the nissan tacho read the toyota signal at all?

will a tacho booster make my gauge read right?

if a tacho booster is not what i need is there anything that will fix the problem?

I thought you'd mentioned that you had the tacho working it was just reading wrong?

If you have the tacho reading (albeit wrong) then you very well might not need a booster...

Not being familiar with 180SX's I'm not sure if it is possible to take the dash apart and 'calibrate' it to work with the 6 cyl tacho output from the 1JZ....

If it isn't possible to calibrate the dash then one solution might be to use something like a Jaycar speedo corrector to correct the 1JZ tacho signal... and you might need a tacho booster after the speedo corrector depending on what signal your dash works off...

A solution on some toyotas is to get the guts out of the tacho from a 6 cyl instrument cluster (eg Camry) & fit it behind the 4 cyl face.

The sweep of the needle needs to be the same though.

May be a thought to try?
