    update:

    Car has bee to the dyno. Basically the car is leaning out when the problem occurs. Spark is fine.

    ECU is now throwing out code 43 after an ECU reset. The ChkEngine light comes on now after about 10 minutes of driving and problem starts pretty much straight away.


    43 Starter

    * No starter signal to ECU when cranking in TEST mode. Terminal STA on ECU

    * starter signal circuit
    * starter relay
    * ignition switch

    Can anyone suggest which of the above suggestions could relate to the car leaning out?

    Well the fault has been resolved. An earth continuity test revealed an earth leak. An earthing pin was not secured properly to the chassis (out of sight and totally unrelated to the recent work done on the car)

    After the car warmed up, the weak earth messed up my AFR causing the lean out.

    Woot, car is now ready and healthy for the MR2 Bathurst Nationals!!!

    I checdked this before you posted actually. ECU looks like it just rolled out of the factory. All components appear to be as new.
