So I know the jzx81 a3041LE has the regular 3 solenoids and a "kickdown" cable and the jzs147 box has the 5 solenoid box and no kickdown cable. Mike from MV said you can remove the aristo valve body and fit a chaser one and it has provision for the regular kickdown cable. This would then be controlled by a manualising box like MV sell.
So the jzx81 only has S1,S2 and SLU to wire up.Originally Posted by 2jzr31
I would use a 2jz converter and flex plate correct?
Re output flange to tailshaft: Do you think I could get lucky and be able to attach the front half of an aristo tailshaft to the rear of my cressida shaft?
So with any luck the speed sensors will be the same from jzx81/jzz30 and jzs147.Originally Posted by mos

Reason for doing this is: found a cheap built aristo gearbox and just working out if it is all doable. As well as this 2jz autos are stronger than 1jz autos from factory.
Thanks in advance

only part i can help you with is the convertor
if you are using the aristo box you will need the 2jz convertor and flex plate as the 1jz flex plate hole spacings are slightly different
You'd have to be close to the luckiest man around![]()
Actually I have a feeling this won't work, if you see an aristo shaft they have a splined section for movement (Due to fixed at gearbox and diff in the aristo)... although I saw one on the ground at ABC parkridge the other day if you wanted to chase it up...
Speed sensors should be fine. (Only the late VVTi stuff has 12 pulse, i.e. late JZZ30, JZS161, VVTi JZA80).
You'll need to wire up the torque converter lockup speed sensor also.
Oil temp sensor too...
Or another option would be make a controller for the two extra solenoids in the 2JZ box (SLT, SLN)...! (Or buy a controller like PCS... not that cheap tho...)
You can see that they are just PWM vs TPS pretty well...This is more work than just fitting the other valve body tho (If MV say that will work)

Oh another option would bne fitting a 2jzgte to go with the auto?
Cheers

haha, yeah that would probably be easiestThanks for the info. Sounds too difficult! Oh well, good info for others in the future hopefully.
