e58 gearbox fluid(s)?

My e58 transmission was emptied of all fluids when I bought it and I need to fill it up.
Do I use one fluid for the gearbox and an other for the LSD?
How much fluid would I need?

Takes about 4.3 litres but the best way to tell is to open up the filler plug (should be located on the bottom side) and fill it till it comes out of there...

Ok so it's only one type of fluid I need? ...a gearbox oil with limited slip additive if I understand it correctly?

I use Royal Purple Max Gear 70W90 in my LSD E58 to excellent effect. I know the synchros are stuffed (oil came out like metallic paint) but with a refill of RP, it now shifts with only a minor notchiness. I've probably got another 30,000Kms out of the box so far.

Costs a bit though......

Im going for a PPG (Pfitzner Performance Gearbox) factory tour on Monday, itll be interesting to see which oil they recommend.

dont use an oil with an LSD additive... its a torsen centre.

Some good old Castrol VMX80 will work well for a cheaper option.... or a quality sythnetic gear oil.

Been using redline lightweight shockproof (light blue muck) in my e58 since the conversion was finished back in 2004/5... never skipped a beat, never glazed the synchro's as has happened to 1jz owners on here.
