Damn...

What a weekend!

Firstly my pile of leftover parts made it the 1200km each way trip AND survived a subdued thrashing!

Like a lot of others I almost didn't make it due to Murphy's Law catching up with me in the weeks leading up... An unknown $100 2nd hand turbo thrown on last minute fortunatly quit its nasty smoking habbit when offered a very tight oil feed restrictor and seemed to make all the right noises!

Having a go in the motorkana was good, but watching some of the big cars being mercylessly thrashed around the courses with mind boggling precision was awesome in itself!

I woke up this morning all alert at 2.30am so got the hell out and headed for home. Made it around 4pm... Washed the bugs off, mowed the lawn, and now I'm officially buggered!

Am home! 12hrs trip in the truck, followed by ~2hrs in the GT4. My back & arse appreciated the last part of the journey but my hearing is kinda sensitive at the moment.

Despite being a spectator only, I managed to: see all the cars on show, drrink too much beer, spent little on food, get sunburnt, swim in a freezing pool 2 times, help at the motorkhana (i hope), watch all the drag racing and eat too much at the RSL.

I think that all counts as a win

I encourage anyone who thinks that 'no car ready' is an excuse to miss the Nationals to re-think that and make it a reason for volunteering and spectating.

well the car was working apart from a massive amount of fuel fumes in the car (still working out where they are coming from) but i ended up working 500kms in the opposite direction

clearing my calendar for next time already though! even if i have to tow it!

What an excellent weekend, it always goes to quick.
We arrived home at 7.00pm after 11 1/2 hours driving.
Already booked accommodation for next year and planning the next project.
I hope we can get more Queenslanders there next year.
Can,t wait.

Oh wait - As long as we can get you into the Qld head count at awards night you can stick around as long as you like!!!
