Default High RPM = Bad for A/C Compressor?

    Hello,

My car has a Denso Wobble plate type compressor with 5 or 6 Pistons.

    1. Accelerating while having the A/C on, will this put a lot of strain on the compressor and cause it to fail quickly?

    2. What about turning the A/C on while the engine is operating at high RPM, as in while accelerating I push the a/c switch, Will this cause the Clutch to burn out as it engages or cause damage to the compressor?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I assume it is the air-con that came with the car? There is no problem with high rpm affecting the air-con. It's designed to run through the entire rev range that the engine can deliver, so I wouldn't be concerned about high revs causing it any issues.

in most cases the ac compressor switches off under WOT.. usually in later model things.. as in 90's onwards..

Switching off the compressor at high rpm is a good idea. Here is one I destroyed when the 1UZ hit the rev limiter once too often without turning off the aircon
