i think because RA40's came with 20R's and w55's in the US (im guesssing here), the floorplan has 2 xmember positions, 1 for W50 and 1 for W55. i used the rearward position with my setup.
and then i simply turned the xmember around so it curved the other way, and reversed the gbox rubber mount.
and bingo, it all bolted up no problems![]()
because the RA28 doesnt have the 2 xmember position capability, some sort of modification will be required.
however i would sugest setting up the gbox rubber and xmember in a fashion that the holes are as close as possible.
you should be able to see this difference in mount postion between the W50 and the W55 if you stand both up on the output shaft end. the W55 mount will be lower compared to the poo-W50
these pictures were in the gallery on the old forums. its a 1ggte + w58 into RA28 conversion:
see more from this link http://www.toymods.org.au/gallery/th...s.php?album=38
ofcourse, you could have easily found them if you searched![]()

ah yes.. i remember that gallery now.... and that car.
i was more concerned with the length of the box from input to output shaft. I didnt want to find that the tailshaft wouldnt fit...
...... butt scratcher?!
i always thought that ra23 g/box x/members were the same as ra40 types as when i put the supra in all i did was swap the gear box mount around and it bolted to the xmember no probs ,and 2 this day thats all i used ,even the engine 1 i have is a ta23 for the engine as well ,and im almost sure that the extra bolt holes in the floor was for ta or ra motors and boxes any way ,just my 2 cents
ok, my 2 cents worth.
w58 1st gear- 3.28 w50 or p51 there are four variations

Obviously its an alloy box(supra oval case 5 speed)

gearbox length- 22 inches -22 inches
tail shaft splines- 21 -21

just reading it agian karl it should just bolt in no probs no cutting no any thing
I used a TA63 gearbox xmember and it all bolted in![]()
The TA63 xmember has a lot more of a curve in it than the Ra28 one so it reached the original bolt holes fine.
... yeah, and im going to find one of those where??![]()

hello
My TA63 crossmember is VERY similar to the crossmember from an auto TT132 so that may be an option.
Callum
TT132's are about as rare as TA63's though
hello
Not in NZ, sorry not really up with what you guys got over there. Was same as my RA63 crossmember too, but probably doesn't help either lol.
Callum
