    Default 1ggte into mx83

    Hey guys,

I would just like to know that if I was to buy a 1ggte gx81 half cut for my mx83, would it be a straight bolt in conversion like the jzx81 1jz?

pretty much, crossmember's different but you can bolt in the GX81 crossmember.

I got rid of the 1G from my GX81 GT to replace with a 1J, the 1G just didn't have enough torque for such a heavy car.

Just wanted to pipe in and also suggest a 1jz...

Unless you can supply some good reasons as to why 1g has piqued your interest?

    Cheers

1jz would be sweet but not suitable for my budget and I really want a manual, the half cut that I am looking at is factory 5 speed and only a fraction of the price you would pay for a manual 1j.

Is that a good enough reason

I agree with the others, once on boost the 1G is ok, but off boost you would wish you had the 7m still .. Going from a 3 litre to a 2 litre not the best idea ....
    My 2 cents worth ...

If they've got the tailshaft with the cut then it's an easy conversion. W58 has a different spline and slightly different length from memory. If you get the GX81 tailshaft front-half then you can bolt that to the MX83 rear section and get it balanced up.

Or you can use a *X7* manual tailshaft front half.

1J has better fuel economy than 1G in a heavy car (in my opinion)

Huz... definitely go 1J. Save up the $$$ and do it right the first time. 1G is cheap but not suited to your car.
