How close is too close for a brake caliper

i drive a 4wd with mud tyres daily, use an ipod not the stereo, it drowns the noise out better

i second the rally rims when servicing or volunteering - i managed to put a crack in my 18" front-right rim (as well as the badly dented exhaust) at Jimna earlier this year (is why i had to pull out of volunteering at the WRC - repair bill consumed my rally food+beer+camping budget).
