    I've edited mine too.

As I said, Of course these catalogues are not always infallible, but may help. Buyer beware blah blah blah. You need to understand that if you go into your parts store, they will sell you whats in the catalogue.

Another anomaly which I came across in the 555 catalogue in 2002 (around April, and in Townsville Auto One) was that the idler arm listing was wrong. Unsure if this has been rectified, but it took me a bit to get the right one. TA23 was what the correct item was listed under, incorrect item sent to me turned out to be an RA40 idler arm. List price on the RA40 one was $80, list price on the correct RA23/28 item (note, this does not fit TA22) was $120. Hopefully the listing for the TA22 is right, but make sure it doesn't give the same part number as TA23 first.

    Owen,

You are correct. The TA23 listing is the corect item for the RA23 and RA28 but not for the TA22. I am led to beleive these are NLA tho now

All of those will suit the T/RA23/8 except the idler arm. I might look at getting a bracket and shaft made to fit an RA40 idler arm to my RA28 if I can't get a proper idler arm (access to machine shops and fitters makes me smile )

Another option might be a urethane replacement bush. Fulcrum made these for KE1x idler arms but now out of stock.

    Perhaps available for TA/RA's?

Just had a look. They list an idler arm bush for an RA40, but not earlier Celica's.

Their catalogue is not perfect either however. Some errors in their KE1x listings.

Unfortunately the balljoints on the Celica idlers are prone to flogging out, so just finding bushes will be a temporary solution at best.

This is what my mechanic suggested to after he couldn't find a replacement idler arm. He didn't believe their rarity...
I guess it's pointless to go down this path then?

You mentioned in your previous post that have you might get a custom bracket made up, have you gone down that path yet?

I use Triple 5 or 555, they are OEM quality and made in Japan. Never had an issue with them, most good auto shops will have these.

    Cheers,

Anyone know of a place in Sydney that stocks these? I've done the ring around to a few places and none had even heard of them...

    Simon,

You cant even buy the 555 TA22 or RA23/8 idler arms in Japan anymore let alone over here.

    Hmmm.

    Bugger.

I just tried Toyota (who are on the hunt for one), and my local (good, old fashioned!) parts shop.

    Here's hoping...
