Unless you mean Texas, QLD, you probably won't find many locals on here.....we're an Australian club.

I know just wishful thinking... I joined the australian forums because you guys are a heck of a lot more helpful than people in the states with the im better than you attitude and the sheer lack of ae86 support here in the states

I don't have experience doing it, but I can't really imagine the 4a-ge being "a wiring nightmare"... find a mate who's an electronics geek and give him beer![]()
(ps: Mos, I don't think of you as an electronics geeks, and I've never paid you in beer... for wiring, at least)
Whatever you do, should you decide to go 4AGE, source a USDM GTS wiring loom complete.
By that I mean engine loom, charge/lights loom and underdash loom.
You will save yourself A LOT of headaches.
And keep it AFM rather than trying to convert to MAP.

Ok if i do decide to go 4age what year range should i look for as a motor canidate? Which would be the easier choice for my 23 year old chassis? (p.s. the car is only three months younger than i am) thats just funny

Search around. Easiest choice would be a rear wheel drive configuration 16 valve bigport 4AGE. This is bolt in and turn key very quickly if you source a local GTS loom ECU fuel pump etc.
More complicated would be a front wheel drive 20 valve 4AGE, as you need to configure it to rear wheel drive and make some decisions about engine management.
There is masses on info on here, club4ag, and aeu86.org, ae86drivingclub.
search and read.

If you're really determined to work on the 4ac (say for competition class restrictions) then see here
http://4ac-powered.forumotion.com/forum.htm
That been said, I'm probably also with the others in saying you cant polish a turd. Hell, with a 4ac it seems you cant kill one either but I'm yet to see anyone make a better value for money project out of a modified 4ac than they could manage with some variant of 4ag (even in the US) swap.

Finally, a members ride thread. I present project One Thing Lead to Another (nominations for a better name are now open)

*IF* you are determined to build the 4AC... the hachiroku forum has a few people who have tried......
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
Im not that determined to build the 4ac but it seems finding motors here in the states is pretty difficult, I would like to go with the 16v 4age but trying to find one is proving to be a challenge. After the advice everyone has given me, I have decided to go with the 16v 4age now its just a matter of finding one

After everyones advice.... the 16v 4AGE seems like the best option for me, now to find a needle in a hay stack in the united states
