Electric box thingy for the wheel speed sensor

I'm after the name and availability of the box that sits between the wheel speed sensor and the instrument panel on the later Toyota's. It fixes the speedo signal so the panel can read it.
The gear I'm using is an SXE-10 Altezza, but I guess a lot of other Toyota's would have a similar thing .... ?

My understanding is that the signal goes to the engine ECU from the speed sensor on the gearbox (or via the auto speed sensor) and then to the dash via the multiplex network on the new Toyota's...

I'm happy to be corrected tho, but I'm pretty sure that is how JZS161 Aristo / GS300 works

The box is the Engine ECU...

the Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS has a body computer which interprets the signal to feed a multiplexed signal to the cluster.
Unfortunately, this is different to most Toyotas & makes the a PITA to work with.

My Caldina reads the speedo signal off the ABS wheels sensors via the ABS computer.
Just to really confuse the issue, from what I know, the automatic Altezzas read the speedo signal from the ABS, whereas the manual ones read it from the gearbox.

Mine's the automatic gearbox, all stuffed into an AE86.
Guess I'm looking for a body computer then ... ?
Should be the same as an IS200?

You using the Altezza instrument cluster?
And how are you reading the speed signal? Last time I checked, AE86's never had ABS.

3S, 1G or 2J? I think the 1G & 2J would be the same as they are both 6 cylinders, but the 3S may be different because the tacho signal input may be different from the ECU. Maybe?
But thinking about it, you'd think the 3S Engine ECU would fix that & give the same output to the bdy computer regardless.
Sorry, I'm out of ideas.

We've added a metal disc in the front-left brake hat, and mounted the speed sensor there. So in theory all we need to do is connect it to the Altezza loom in the car somehow.
All Altezza's came with 3SGE's.

Can't confirm about the IS200 vs Altezza. I couldn't find it on the EPC
There were 1G-FE Altezzas available in Japan though. Probably not many sold if the Japanese had any sense, & the Altezza Gita wagon was only available with the 1G-FE or 2JZ-GE.

Yep, and the automatic gearbox.
I'm still occasionally tempted to change the lot and put a manual w57 in to it, run the engine with a spare Motec, and put a more conventional instrument panel into it.
But hopefully I can get this stuff working ....

It won't work.

The Altezza dash is expecting serial data (kinda like USB if that makes sense).

The ABS module takes the speed sensor signals and then creates a serial data stream to send to the dash....

The Jaycar box can't make the serial data stream you need...
