Hilux 1uz coolant hose

Where have people run the 6mm coolant line that runs from the thermostat housing, its a 90deg bend that faces forward and used to go to the bottom of the pressurised header tank on the soarer. I want to run the original Hilux overflow bottle which is not pressurised or a header tank as such,have people just blocked it off? It looks like a thermo bypass.
