    Default Adaptronic/1G-GTE: No spark!

Just cranked the new project over for the first time, cranks nicely, but no spark. It's JCMOs old MA61, so it *was* running, and well, but I'm not sure where to start with diagnoistics.

The lights on the ECU are red-green-red-unlit (reading from left to right), and don't change from 'on' to 'crank'. I'v re-connected the coilpacks to the microtech ignitor, the loom was still intact, and there's positive voltage in each of the 4 wires connecting to the 3 coils (One common and 3 trigger wires I imagine).

Where to go from here? Is it likely that the immobiliser is messing with it, given that there's voltage to the coils, the fuel pump runs, etc?

Plug a laptop into the Adaptronic and see if it sees any CAS pulses.

Yup, I don't have a usb-serial adaptor, picking one up in the morning. Going to leave that for the minute and keep on with the other things, but I don't really want to pull the motor out until I get it running, just so I know everything was right when I started pulling it apart.

Ok! Problem is closer to being diagnosed. With the dizzy removed, we can get spark and CAS readings in the ECU, but only if we spin the dizzy faster than the 1000ish RPM. Why is the ECU not reading lower RPM settings (IE cranking speed)

earth from CAS going back to ECU and not somewhere else? if you rely on engine ground, the VR sensor may not work well.

Also check the signal at the ecu if you have an oscilloscope (you might also be able to see it in the data log if it's regularly rejecting ignition events). You may need a capacitor to reduce electrical noise and give a clearer signal. I currently have this problem with my MS and am putting a capacitor in shortly.

dont ground the VR signal or cable shield to the engine or chassis - the earth for these comes from the ECU ONLY.
