i guess i should take a ride in both ma61 and the 80... see which one i like better.

though... i have abit of nostalgia for the 80's style cars... esp with a blue interior... it just reminds me of Neon Genesis Evangelion... gay reason... but thats why i like em

anyone played a game on the sega called outrun 2019?

i just love the future style of those cars have from the 80's

I think what i'm trying to say is... I like retro 80's cars. I also like big horse power too

Big HP is one thing, but 1000hp is a drag-only, unstreetable car...

400-500hp with useable torque would be the upper limit of what I'd consider. No point having a car that you can't use...

    ^^agreed

from what I've heard from a guy here in SA who has done the conversion in an ma61, the 2jz could pretty much bolt in with off the shelf adaptors and it was also a pretty easy conversion

    who me?

where is a good place to get cheap ma61's with decent exterior trim? i don't really care about paint... i really only care about the plastic as that cant be reconditioned or repaired.

is there nos parts from toyota for exterior trim? if so... i think i'll pick up an ma61 at a wrecker...

So you have the budget for a 1000hp engine but want to buy the car from a wrecker? Sounds like stories.

I have a 450rwhp 2JZ in an MA61 and that much power is already unusable. My engine is built for significantly more power (all I need to do is wind up the boost and get it tuned) but I haven't bothered because it already scares the shit out of me every time the gate opens. 1000hp in an MA61 just won't work, unless you actually want to die in a fire.

As mentioned earlier, take your imaginary budget and buy an already built JZA80. Don't be concerned about it being "fat", my MA61 is almost as heavy as a JZA80 now after installing all the required mods that are necessary with a major engine upgrade. The only reason to put a big engine in an MA61 is if you really like MA61's, or if you're a bit funny in the head (like me). There is no practical reason to do it, and it certainly won't save you any money if that's what you're hoping for.

    Consider your parade rained on.

Missed one reason Norbs, category racing. MA61s are in the Early category of IPRA and other categories.
    Thats about it though.

Takai: would a 2JZGTE Supra have serious traction issues in IPRA? for a >1200kg car you'd have to make a compromise between outright straightline speed/power and traction in-corner?

Otherwise, to race in correct historic trim, you'd have to make a very twitchy 6MGE as found in ArtRacing's ex-Peter Williamson Supra.
