I haven't done a howto guide but i can answer questions.Originally Posted by greg01
It is very similar to ra2x conversion. Intercooler piping will be different to ra2x guys, gearbox mounts are easier since the ra40 has bolt holes in the chassis to suit w55/7/8.
all the info about engine mounts on the forum for ra2x applies for the ra40. I used an excel radiator like others and an justjap ebay cooler.

Greg,
As per Chris's post above any ofthe RA28 or RA23 1G conversion threads will be your bible. The engine X members interchange between both cars and the engine bays are very very similar.

thanks mate it looks like you' ve convinced me to go forward with the 1ggte
if i combine your ra2x conversion with the conversion guid that i found on the internet from a rob, here
i should be set.![]()
now all i need is the engine and a cople of beers.

sorry i forgot the link

here it is.
The only thing that seems odd is that Rob had to modify his gearbox cross member, I didn't do that. I found you just rotate it 180 degrees and it lines up with some existing holes in the chassis. there's a thread on here somewhere that backs that up as well.
everything else is fair enough i think.

damn....
found only one 1ggte in all WA that was for saile bourght it took it apart and discovered that it need reboring more then 0.5 mm and new every thing wrang around and the cheapest quoet was 3000 $ for the parts only so im already starting to hate the engine as well as WA.
The parts coats being from toyota and local engine rebuilders.
Anyone knows of another engine that i could or should keep on my mind if i still cant find anything cheaper.
doesnt need to be easier to do just cheaper and legal.
thanks
holden gen 3. lighter, more powerfull, basically better. only problem is that you will have to beware constant of the extreme suprise buttsecks.
GA23(never finished-now with cracked block) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.
