Thanks Turbotoy, So basically AW11 rack, lots out there, get some tie rods for AE86, have them but will probably buy new ones, and MK3 Supra intermediate shaft and we are rolling.
Matt if I get these parts for my conversion you are welcome to any PS parts I have laying around...
Incidentally, does anyone know if you get the KE70 manual rack, the same parts are needed? As in AE86 tie rods and MK3 intermediate shaft?
Funny thing is I am doing this conversion as we type. I have a t-18 in the garage and I am using an ae71 column, engine crossmember (W/3tgte engine mounts welded on), and ae71 rack and pinion. ae86 inner and outer tie rod ends and prothane urethane bushings.

when i put my e7 rack in i had to swap the lower uni joint as well as one of them was longer.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
Ok found a KE70 manual rack, can anyone confirm this is the same scenario as the AW11 rack conversion? use AE86 tie rods and supra intermediate rod?
Can anyone confirm if the u joints on the PS and manual rack are the same?
The spline is the same, its only the larger toyotas that went to a different spline size.
Not sure if the lengths are the same but i would assume so.

Ah ok, thanks mate. Looks like you either do the MR2 conversion, or use AE86 parts...
You can't seriously be having problems finding KE70 bits in Christchurch????
Post a wanted ad on Club K (http://www.club-k.co.nz/Forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=15) and there is bound to someone local able to help you out with all the parts you need.

haha yeah there are a few here the ones so far have been steering box not rack. But found the rack now up north, just need to work out what intermediate rod is needed, and if the 86 tie rods are needed for it too.
I will have a spare KE70 lower shaft but not for a few months as I need it to check motor clearance in a dummy shell I am using. My advice though is grab everything from one car, sedans tend to have racks more than wagons so start there although a slant front wagon is pretty certain to be rack and there are a lot of those rusting away.

Thanks for the advice, I have almost bought a KE70 manual rack with U joint, So I just need to find a Supra or similar intermetiate rod, Or get mine extended or machine up a new one.
