    Default ISCV alternatives

Hi everyone, thankyou all for your help so far, but I do have one more question...

Do you need to run an ISCV or is there a way to bypass it? I'm currently tracking down a second hand Bosch 3-pin ISCV but was wondering if I can do without one (brand new they are $400)

    FYI I'm running a Haltech E8 on a 2TGEU.

    Thanks
    I.

You don't need to run one.

Its only there to control idle.

As long as it starts when cold and doesn't stall when accessories are turned on you dont need it. (May need to run a higher than normal idle speed to get that to happen)

To bypass it just block off the ports on the manifold.

For the 1g in the celica I chose to run a ford throttle body which has a simple 2 wire PWM motor for its idle control. A bonus was its also bigger than the stock unit.

go the Ford unit. I had no idle control on my 3s and it was crap until warm. No amount of fiddling will get it right. Ford TB, 2 wire idle valve and simple on/off setting for it.

some Hyundai's have a bosch-like 3-wire aux-air valve - largish bayonet fittings on both ends.

Well tracked down the Bosch one for $88 delivered (second hand). At least that beast the $400 brand new price. Will install it as I do like an easy starting engine.

    Thanks for all your help.

the original 2T-GEU with a/c had a solenoid air valve. it only had on or off as idle up for the a/c switching on.
you should also have an thermatic air valve against the inlet manifold [btween 2 & 3]. it has a electric heating element which heats a bi-mettalic strip to close the valve. when cold the valve is open, when hot valve closed. it gets power whenever the engine is on
