Hi All,
I have a mate that is looking at doing a nutso turbo 1j or 2j (pref 2j) engine to go into his rt84 corona. All this car will ever do is go down the 1/4 mile as quick as possible. It will never be on aus roads so doesn't have to be legal from that side of things.
Anyway, because he is going nuts with it basically all he will need is the block with crank and needed accessories (oil pump etc) and complete cylinder head. Everything else will pretty much be replaced with something stronger.
So what i'm getting at is what difference is there between the n/a crank block and head vs the turbo engines other than about 1-2k and having to throw out more stuff. No point in paying 2-3k for an engine that we aren't going to use most of.
All i've found is that apparently the n/a heads flow better but haven't seen figures to support the claim.
Any help is much appreciated as this is going to be a fun project.

AFAIK feel free someone to correct me but in the 2jzge
The only bottom end differences are. The pistons and rings them selves and the lack of oil squirters, Conrods crank and mainbearing etc are all the same as the GTE.
So when building a ge to be turbo just replace the piston itself with Turbo items.
And put in a TT Headgasket...
you'll probly wanna convert it to Coil packs too
As for the oil squirters ive heard most big power motors have them removed anyway
