get an AE102 CSX.... i bought one for my fiancee, and it has power windows factory fitted, and power everything else, and velour trim, and rear spoiler.
The ZEE isnt worth it for the price difference IMO (our AE102 was $5000)
ok, the missus wants a newer shape corolla..
and wants power windows if possible..
as nearly every single one for sale (conquest/acsent etc etc) in our price range
DOESN'T have power windows..
is it a simple case of as with most modern cars where you need the servo's, switches, and door cards to add this wonderfull lazy person feature to your car??
like it uses the same holes in the slider/frame, has the wiring just sort of sitting in behind the doorcard not being used..
help would be great as i don't know the newer rolla's that much (havn't owned any newer than an AE9X)

...... butt scratcher?!
she want's a later shape car,
kinda upgrading from the 98 pulsar she has..
oh.... well in that case i know nussing.

Don't get yourself in for a prick of a job. This kind of thing is always much harder than it seems, and costs way more than you expect.
Save for an extra month, and buy one that has electric windows. I'm sure they're not just more expensive because they have electric windows, perhaps other features, alloys, later model/higher spec, etc
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....
thats just it.. it's harder than you think to find a ZZ122/123 with power windows without getting a Levin or a Sportivo.. despite what redbook says.. all the conquest's i've seen did not have them as standard.. just as a factory option.. which no body seemed to friggen want!
ideally i'd want a sportivo.. cos at least i can still have a bit of fun in that.. we'll just see how the tax return goes (capital gains tax yay!)..
Well you shouldnt have sold that capital asset then should you?
I do tend to agree with Shifty. When i looked inside the AE102 doors, the power window stuff looked like a PITA to fit, and even more of a PITA to adjust so that it works "like factory"
Is it that much more for a Levin?
...... butt scratcher?!
Levins are not that common. Also, I think only the front windows are often motorised (but i guess she ain't driving from the back seat.)
AE90 Silvertop - GONE; 2001 ST215W GT-T Manual - SOLD; EP82 Starlet GT - Sold
Now driving 20V Turbo 1.8 N-S FWD
just get a sportivo and be happy![]()
Im pretty sure if you get a later zze conquest they come with front power windows and wind up rears which may be ok
yeh thats what my brothers ascent 'sport' has.. front power.. which is fine.. but it's the facelift ZZE... for the price of most of them, you can get a prefacelift sportivo..
guess we will just have to address this when were actually about to by one
If you think the Levin is rare (keep in mind the Sportivo was the same price), the Ultima is harder to find as it was 30k new. The Levin and Ultima also had ABS (its crap compared to the Sportivo system) and the most air bags out of the Corolla line up (including the Sportivo).
I haven't removed my door trims so can't say how much work is involved. But it does seem like a lot of effort to go to just so you don't have to manually wind a window up and down...
done it before heaps though with things like Magna's.. pulsar's.. etc etc..
and it doesn't seem overly hard in them.. with the magna (2000) model it was a case off removing door card, remove manual assey, install elec assey, plug in to the plug that was sitting in the bottom of the door cavity.. and put the pwr window door cards on with the switches..
then the center console controls were even easier.. it was litterally lift old compartment out, pull up the plug, plug into pwr window controls, and clip back in..
i just wanted to know from someone with a NON pwr window ZZE can pull off thier door card and have a look around for tome wires not leading to anything..
it toyota are like most manufacturers latley.. there too lazy to change looms just cos they don't want pwr windows in a particular model..
toyota has been lazy like that for freaken ages.
For example, in my AE82 twinky, i recently added aircon. All the wiring was already there, i just had to add the bits and plug it in.

ZZEs are bit of a pain, as some came from Seth Efrika (Vin starts; AHT), and some came from Japan.(Vin starts: JTD). and they are different enough to be a problem, mirrors dont fit from one to the other, not sure about regs.
